Chinese guy beanballed LaPorta. Now, that made LaPorta's parents really worried watching in the states.

Canadanians toss out equipment. Managers curse like a long shoreman. Class acts.

Baseball in Olympics for 2012? Europeans would not understand this Yahoo American game. No wonder rhythmic gymnastic should be in. Baseball should be under serious review by IOC.

Celizic must have been watching a different game than the one I saw. China's pitchers repeatly hit USA players, I believe the count was eight times. It was only human for the USA players to finally react the way they did.

I love baseball, but, you've got it right on. Think about the environment your planing in and act accordingly. Highly competitive but respectful. IOC threw out baseball because it lacks the second. And womens fast pitch gets dumped because the men can't behave once the competition starts.

I love baseball, but, you've got it right on. Think about the environment your playing in and act accordingly. Highly competitive but respectful. IOC threw out baseball because it lacks the second. And womens fast pitch gets dumped because the men can't behave once the competition starts.

AMEN! If the Olympic officials (whoever they are) do their job and investigate some of the more obvious problems and complaints, I'm sure that they will find that the Chinese have done more than a little cheating. Their unsportsmanlike and underhanded conduct should not be allowed. The image I now have of the Chinese is that they are willing to cheat, lie, and anything else to get ahead. There is no place for that in the Olympics or anywhere else in life. If they wanted to show the world their best side, they have failed miserably in my book.

I'm sorry but someone should have told the Chinese that you don't block the plate.....especially if there is a guy barrelling full speed ahead. Seriously what did they think was going to happen? Is the American suppose to stop, consult his english to chinese dictionary and ask him to kindly move out the way.
They should be happy that all they got was ran over.

this is not directly related to this article, but it is about baseball. i was watching the little league playoffs (u.s. finals) and was struck by something ludicrous and totally disgusting: SPITTING! the louisiana team spit a remarkable amount, including at least five times that the relief pitcher in the last inning spit while his coach was coming to take him out. baseball, in general is ridiculous for that kind of stuff and it was especially absurd to see 12 year olds spitting, like it was something cool to emulate!
