The Cavaliers are in the NBA Finals and are in possession of LeBron James, the hottest property in the NBA. The Cleveland Indians are neck-and-neck with Detroit

Cleveland's all about winning now

Nice column on the dour history of Cleveland sports over the last 40 years. We've been close a number of times, but our spirit prevails, even if it is accompanied by a healthy dose of cynicism. The Cavs may be a huge underdog in these Finals, but it'll be fun to watch no matter what. How can anyone lose watching LeBron, Z and Boobie on the same court with Duncan, Parker and Ginobli?

Cleveland's all about winning now

Great perspective, and one that is shared throughout the region. The way that I am looking at it is this... they are Eastern Conference CHAMPIONS. That's right, CHAMPIONS. I think we have a good chance of upsetting the Spurs, because LeBron has given me no reason to believe otherwise. But if that doesn't happen, they are still CHAMPIONS. LeBron beat Detroit in his second try and has the Cavs playing for a championship years ahead of the pace that the local media set for them. It's a great time to be a Cleveland sports fan, thanks for letting us know that we are not alone.

Cleveland's all about winning now

Having been born and raised in the 'burbs of Cleveland from '63 to '85, I can relate. I have lived through and remember many of the painful moments. And like you, I will not get my hopes too high, but it sure is nice to be able to see the city excited about its sports again. But even if the Cavs don't win it all, and the Indians implode, and the Browns don't win the Super Bowl on the arm of Brady Quinn, they will always be "my hometown teams". Once a Cleveland fan, always a Cleveland fan!

GO CAVS! GO INDIANS! GO BROWNS!

Cleveland's all about winning now

I am happy for the sports fans in Cleveland. It's nice to have the home team win. However, Cleveland is not the hottest sports town in America. The Tigers went to the World Series. The Wings almost made it to the Cup finals. The Pistons made it to the NBA Finals. The Plymouth Whalers won the OHL Hockey Championship. Michigan State won the NCAA Hockey title. U-M had great football, baseball, and hockey seasons. Sorry Cleveland-I do wish you well, but Detroit and Michigan IS the place to be for sports.
