Can't wait to see Sochi

I am living in the U.S. for a while now and I would agree that people are ignorant than it comes to events outsie of the country. The European /basketball and soccer competition are ignored as well as other sports. I would say that in the world that becomes so connected ignorance should be avoided and we need to learn from other cultures as well. We need to stop consider us as the best and respect other nations until it is too late...
Personally, I have been to Sochi with my parents in mid 1990s, it was a beutiful city back than and with such givernment financial support it will be excellent olypics that will benefit the city and raise Russia's image on world arena

Sochi is a resort on the black sea...i've been there...PALM TREES GROW THERE!!!! Generally, one can assume that it doesn't snow where palm trees grow. There are mountains nearby, but they're seldom capped with snow, even in winter. Makes one wonder how the Russians are going to pull this one off...either spend a fortune on snowmaking equipment or hire a tribe of native cossacks to do a snow dance?

The IOC should seek another location for the 2014 Winter Olympics since this is a hot spot of political unrest between Georgia and Russia and it doesn't seem like it is going to resolve itself anytime soon.
