Pretty scary stuff for Mr. Vick. As a gigantic fan of both college and pro football I've been saddened to see all the arrests and things over the past few years, but I gotta say that this case bothers me more than the Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, and Chris Henry cases combined (and I don't even like dogs). It's sad to see a guy so infinitely talented throw it all away on something stupid like this (no matter his direct involvement he was at least aware of these things happening on his property and that's just as bad). I think Roger Goodell has no choice but to suspend Vick for at least a half-season, if not full or life. However, from the sound of it Vick has more problems to worry about than if he ever plays football again.

This one defies logic. In the "What Were They Thinking?" Hall of Fame, Mr. Vick has gotten himself elected without any mandatory waiting period. Assuming (and we do live in a pretty good country where things must be proven) that the charges are true, this is not a matter where confusion, ambiguity or ignorance of the law is a mitigating factor. Mr. Vick seems to be either incredibly stupid or a rotten human being or both and that is just sad. Someone has to help me out here, because I did not think anyone was this dumb.

Just finished reading all 18 pages of legal-ese in this case. Four CWs (cooperating witnesses)! Even if all of them balk, it seems like the Feds can easily follow the "money flow" for the whole operation, plus bets, and they seem to mostly focus on "Ookie" (MV). The one thing most noticable "in between the lines" here is, Ookie's performance in another QB-type role (as exec producer/financier for Bad Newz Kennels). Just with his jobs with the Falcons, MV or Ookie's dogs can't seem to win the big ones. The Bad News Kennels dogs track record for the big $$ matches is pathetic. Just like Vick leading the Falcons in the NFL playoffs. Funny sidenote, Google "rape stand dog fighting" for images. All search results refer to the NFL. Not good for the league!

I was watching the morning sport shows this morning. They were trying to make it a black or white issue and to impose that since this is his first real "offense" against the legal system, he should be spared.

Since when have we stopped expecting that professionals act like professionals? First time offense or not, we must have high standards for our pro athletes. The NFL should act decisively on this issue and hold players accountable for illegal activities, in particular, felonies and acts of endangerment.

Professional athletes are role models and those standards shouldn't be compromised, even on the first "offense".

I understand that everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty but come on, the evidence is pretty compelling and the lives of those innocent animals. Who speaks for them? I read the indictment and I'm shocked at this...I knew this sort of stuff went on. I used to live in North Carolina and I heard of dog fighting. But reading this indictment is sickening and brings this into a different light. I can't believe the extent of cruelty.

I have written both the NFL & Atlanta Falcons, demanding more be done (than let this play out).

I would like to join with others to boycott these organizations until something more is done.

There is no doubt in any reasonable person's mind that Vick did these awful things. I am equally as sure, Vick will never be punished for his deeds. I guess now probably wouldn't be a good time to point out that murderers, especially of the serial kind almost always start out with cruelty to animals. For that matter some do both types of crimes in parallel. The point being, maybe the US Attorney should look a little deeper in Vick's (and everyone involved) past.

On a second note it looks like the NFL and team are supporting Vick even in light of these horrible findings. They are using the judicial system as a shield to cover their current inaction. A man can only be convicted 'beyond a reasonable doubt' in a criminal court. It seesm the NFL is using the same guidelines here and in fact waiting for Vick to be convicted. Nike is taking a similiar stance. For their purposes, both the NFL and Nike, that is an unacceptable stance. They have enough of the facts from the indictment to make an independent decision. As usual football and the dollar protecting football.

How can the NFL continue to support Michael Vick, when 55 dogs ( or more depending on which news story)were found on his property starving, and mistreated- allegedly used for dogfighting ? How can that not violate the personal conduct code for the NFL? He should at the very least get a suspension....If we don't say this is WRONG, what are we teaching our children?

I'm completely horrified at this news, and it will be a LONG time before I watch the NFL again.

I read all the articles on MSNBC regarding VICK and DOG FIGHTING. The think what got me the most was what NIKE said "A statement released by Nike Inc. said the company “is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick, and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent. We do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen; therefore, we have not terminated our relationship.

No need to worry NIKE because my family had already terminated their relationship with you. When you didn't halt your money making pursuit on VICKS endorsed NIKE Products during the allegations and initial investigations of VICK, I terminated my relationship with NIKE products by refusing to purchase and no longer consume any NIKE name/logo, period-end of story. I am a animal (especially dog) lover, not activist, but a lover. I hope that other familys stay clear of purchasing or consuming NIKE products and choose ADIDAS, REEBOK, NEW BALANCE, etc. in MEMORY of all the dogs who have been injured or died in due to the ILLEGAl dog fighting practices. Good luck with your due process with VICK, hope you can afford it. Your are who you support (NIKE supports VICK), I don't.

I agree with the assessment of Michael Vick's chances against this indictment. The Feds don't give out that kind of detail lightly and they must be extremely certain of their factual accuracy.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done for the countless number of innocent dogs who were horribly abused and killed by these sick people.

All we can hope is that this case gets the national media exposure that will result in higher awareness and stronger prosecution of these heinous crimes.

I own an American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull) and the fact that these are one of the most affectionate and loyal dogs to their owners makes it even more unimaginable that someone could treat them this way. i think you're innocent until proven guilty but i don't think Vick should be allowed to play on sundays....pay him if the falcons want but let him sit on the bench sundays and deny him the chance to do what he loves best and thats play football...until the legal process plays out. I am a black woman and a dog lover and these horrific acts have nothing to do with the culprits race. It has to do with ones humanity, period. I have adopted dogs rather than see them go to a animal shelter. It's a lot of work but the reward in love returned and loyalty and compainionship is worth the time and energy. The Feds just dont indict willy-nilly. I am sure they have a case. The NFL needs to suspend him until the outcome of the case, this is way more troubling than DUI and drug offenses. The NFL needs to put in their morality clause to all contracts that if you are suspected of being in trouble with the law (other than minor traffic violations like speeding) you are suspended until the outcome. (it could be drugs, DUI, Domestic Violence, or anything) The NFL and all other sports needs a no-nonsense policy that is strictly enforced. These guys no matter how we like it or dont are role models and they need to behave accordingly.
